The Waterboys

The Waterboys

The Waterboys (this great name selected after a heated debate over a few beers) is Hobart's favourite new sports show that has a real focus on all local sporting stories with a dash of fun and frivolity thrown in for good measure.

Hosted by 7HOFM’s Breakfast with the Stars gun sports reporter Blair Brownless, Blair is well supported by sport gurus Brent Costelloe from WIN NEWS and Mark Thomas. It’s already clear that the biggest names in sport are lining up to get on the show! Tune in each Saturday morning from 8am to hear all the latest sporting news so you can sound smart and knowledgeable around all your friends and family.

Have you heard about 'Wingman'?

Blair BrownlessABOUT BLAIR: He played 150 games for Clarence Football Club after spending 2 years at Collingwood, he should have played more AFL football with Collingwood, but tall, skinny players with limited ability weren’t required (plus his brother Billy Brownless was always better). He is a 3 time premiership player and best & fairest winner for Clarence. Blair has been a sports reporter for 7HOFM for the past 5 years. He is a passionate Geelong supporter but doesn’t make that obvious to the listeners and his friends.

Brent

ABOUT BRENT: Brent dreamt of playing in the AFL or NBA, but his sporting career was cut short due to a debilitating lack of ability. He was then forced to focus on his media career, starting with WIN Television in 2004. He’s since become state sports reporter for the company and also presents on WIN News. Brent has been rewarded for his work – including winning last seasons Tasmanian State League media award and best news coverage for SEABL basketball. His passion in life is the West Coast Eagles football club – and one day would like to be half the man Blair Brownless has turned out to be!

Mark Thomas ABOUT MARK: He is a Boonie lover – Mark is the author of David Boon biographies ‘In the Firing Line’ and ‘Under the Southern Cross’. He was The Examiner’s Sports Editor and all things sports for the Northern newspaper for 10 years before he joined WIN Television as a sports journalist and presenter. Mark covered the Tasmanian Football League, during its major rebirth through the late 80’s and early 90’s. Since this time he has covered Test and Tasmanian Cricket around Australia as well as dabbling in the world of politics and public relations.

ABOUT WINGMAN: Wingman is a weekly guest on the Waterboys and has a unique ability to give the listeners regular scoops, opinions and stories on a range of issues related to AFL and TSL football. He also manages the twitter account for the Waterboys and provides regular tweet updates on the show from the fans. Wingman’s identity remains a mystery and he lives an immensely private life and prefers a more incognito profile than Blair, Brent and Mark. We do know that Wingman played in the old statewide league football competition in the 90’s and won the senior leading goal kicking award twice at South Launceston and once at the now defunct Sandy Bay.
